Northwest-Shoals is unique among community colleges in Alabama in that we adhere to the comprehensive community college concept rather than providing separate technical and junior college divisions. Northwest-Shoals Community College offers a broad range of certificate and degree programs, as well as university parallel and linkage programs. A variety of special programs and services, including training for business and industry, is also available.

The goal of our Admissions Office is to provide efficient and equitable student access and to assist with each student's individual transition to a college learning environment by providing services on the Shoals and Phil Campbell campuses.

The college has an open-door admissions policy to assure educational opportunities for the citizens of its service area. Eligible applicants are admitted at the beginning of each of the two academic semesters (fall & spring) and the summer session.

Admission to Northwest-Shoals Community College does not necessarily mean acceptance or admission to certain programs in the college, such as nursing, practical nursing, and emergency medical services. Students desiring admission to particular programs offered by the college should make certain that they do meet the specific requirements of that program.

Specific policies and procedures for admission to the college are published in the school's catalog. Please use the links listed below to obtain telephone numbers or addresses needed to answer your questions or to apply for admission.
