| Vica - Vocational Industrial Clubs of
America - is a national organization serving more than 245,000
members who are enrolled in technical, skilled, and service
occupations. VICA is dedicated to helping its members become
world-class workers and responsible citizens.
SkillsUSA - VICA is a "Commitment
Make" with the America's Promise organization chaired by
General Colin Powell. Skills USA - VICA became involved with
America's Promise through participation with the volunteers in
Career Awareness Mentoring Program.
Northwest-Shoals has an active VICA
organization on the Shoals and Phil Campbell campus. Meetings are scheduled monthly. Students participate in
campus activities and various community projects. Each
April, members may attend the AL State Leadership and Skills
Conference held in Montgomery, Alabama. First place winners
are eligible to attend the National Conference and compete on a
national level.
Business and Industry recognize
SkillsUSA - VICA as a resource for employees who will have both
occupational and employability skills. More than 1,000
businesses, trade associations and labor unions support Vica
through financial means and providing a link between the
educational system and the world of work.
