General Information: Students are expected to arrive for class on time and not leave until dismissed. Grammar lectures will be given at the beginning of scheduled classes. Students are responsible for keeping up with assignments and material covered in each class even when they are absent. Any missed material will not be re-taught by the instructor. Students should be certain all pagers and cell phones are turned off and out of sight before coming to class.
Class Attendance Policy: Because class attendance is considered to be essential to the accomplishment of course objectives, excessive absences are discouraged. Students are discouraged from missing any class meeting unless an emergency arises. With the exception of mandatory college functions (ex. Scholars Bowl, athletic and music/drama events), there are no excused absences in this college. Daily participation, reading/writing assignments, and tests cannot be made-up; therefore, absence from class will hurt the final class evaluation.
Make-up Policy: One missed essay can be made up with no penalty on the make-up / revision day as scheduled on the syllabus. If a student has missed no essays, he or she may revise one essay for a better grade.. Only one essay can be made up; other missed essays will receive the grade of 0.
Grading: Seventy-five percent (75%) of the final grade will be the average of all writing grades. The other twenty-five percent (25%) will include an average of grammar tests, vocabulary tests, computer worksheets, reading worksheets, and workbook lessons.
