General
Information: Students
are expected to arrive for class on time and not leave until dismissed.
Grammar lectures will be given at the beginning of scheduled classes.
Students are responsible for keeping up with assignments and material
covered in each class even when they are absent.
Class
Attendance Policy: Because
class attendance is considered essential to the accomplishment of course
objectives, excessive absences are discouraged.
At no time should a student miss more than six (6) classes (20% of total
class meetings for a course). These
absences include any absences accrued during late registration.
Students are discouraged from missing any class meeting unless an
emergency arises. Students who miss
more than 20% of total classes may receive an F
for the course regardless of the grades they have made thus far.
Make-up
Policy: Any
work (readings, writings, quizzes, tests, essays, etc.) missed due to late
registration or to absences must
be made up within one week from the
scheduled due date as designated on the syllabus.
If the work is not made up in this time period, the grade for the missed
work will become a 0.
Grading:
Seventy-five
(75%)
of the final grade will be the average of all writing grades.
The other twenty-five (25%)
will include an average of grammar tests, comprehensive grammar exams,
vocabulary tests, workbook lessons, video tape sheets, and reading/writing
assignments.
