Required Text:  The Norton Anthology of World Masterpieces, Vol. 1, 7th Edition

 Prerequisites:  English 102

 Attendance:  Students should attend all class meetings.  At no time should a student miss more than 20% of the class meetings for a course.  Failure to adhere to this policy may result in a failing grade.

 Withdrawal Policy:  A grade of W will be assigned as the final grade if a student withdraws before March 31, 2003 .  Withdrawal prior to March 31 will subject the student to repaying his/her Pell grant and/or student loan.  A grade of WP or WF will be assigned if a student withdraws after March 31 ,2003 .  It is the responsibility of the student to complete proper forms and submit them to admissions.  

 Make-up Policy:  It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for make up work; any missed test or essay must be made up within one week of the designated due date.  Work not made up in this designated time will result in a grade of 0.  Pop quizzes or daily quizzes may not be made up.  There will be NO make up work done after final exams have begun.

 Tardiness:  Coming into class late is a rude distraction.  Repeated or habitual tardiness indicates a disregard for academic amenities; please make every attempt to be on time. 

 Method of Evaluation:  The final semester grade will be based on the average of quizzes, combined with test grades, essay grades, and the literary research writing.  There is NO extra credit work, and no grade will be dropped.

 Plagiarism Policy:  Any student who blatantly plagiarizes any written work in English 271 will automatically receive an F for the course.

 Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ):  It is the policy of NWSCC to comply with the ADA .  Any student covered under this act needing and desiring reasonable accommodations should notify the instructor and student services within the first two weeks of classes.
