Class Attendance Policy: Because class attendance is considered to be essential to the accomplishment of course objectives, excessive absences are discouraged. At no time should a student miss more than 20% of total class meetings (6 classes) for a course. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in a failing grade regardless of the grades the student has earned thus far.
Grading Policy: The semester grade will be based on the average of the following:
Tests (4 as scheduled on the syllabus) 33%
Essays (6 as scheduled on the syllabus) 33%
Research Paper (graded for structure, content,
grammar, documentation, and style) 33%
Plagiarism Policy: Any
student who blatantly plagiarizes any written assignment in English 102 will
automatically receive an F for the course.
Make-up Policy: It is each student’s responsibility to remain aware of class activities, even during an absence. Any work missed due to late registration or to absences must be made up within one week from the scheduled due date as designated on the syllabus. If the work is not made up in this time period, the grade for the missed work will become a 0. Any missed lab work must be made up during my office hours, and those essays will be handwritten. There will be NO make up work accepted after final exams have begun! If, for any reason, a grade of I (Incomplete) is assigned for this class, the student must complete the work required to finish the class no later than midterm of the following semester.
