All distance education students will be mailed an information letter at the beginning of the semester for each distance course enrolled. This letter explains how to complete the distance education orientation process. Please review the information in your letter and the information below carefully.
If you do not receive an information letter by the end of the first week of classes, contact your the Distance Education Office immediately at 256-331-5395 or cookson@nwscc.edu for course information.
You will receive a grade for completing this orientation. Your instructor will determine what percentage this orientation will count toward your final grade.
Steps to Completing the Online Distance Education Orientation - Summer 2007
1. You must have an e-mail address! If you don't have one, please set up an e-mail using a free service such as Yahoo Mail so that your instructors will be able to communicate with you. You will be asked to enter this e-mail later in the orientation.
2. View Transcript of Orientation Video Presentation (linked here at an Adobe PDF File). If you prefer you can watch the actual video; Windows Media Player is required to view the video.
3. Review the Self-Assessment: Characteristics of a Successful Distance Education Student (linked here).
4. Complete the Distance Education Orientation Session Questionnaire (linked here).
5. Complete the Distance Education Student Information Form (linked here).
6. Review the list of on-campus meeting dates (linked here) to see if your distance course instructor has scheduled a one-time on-campus meeting for your course. This will complete your Distance Education Orientation.
