Northwest-Shoals is proud to offer personal academic advice to our students. The purpose of an Advisor is to help students select courses that will meet their goals. Some students want to take a course for personal experience and do not care if they receive a grade or if the course transfers. Other students want a course that will transfer to other schools and count toward a degree. Our CyberAdvisors can help with any of these.
The STARS System allows public two-year students in Alabama to obtain a Transfer Guide/Agreement for the major of their choice. This guide/agreement, if used correctly, guides the student through their first two years of coursework and prevents loss of credit hours upon transfer to the appropriate public four-year university in Alabama.
Students have access to an entire team of support other than an advisor.
Financial Aid For questions about scholarships or federal financial aid.
The STARS System To obtain a contract from a university to guarantee that your courses will transfer.
Advisors To get answers to questions about a particular class.
Staff from our Student Support Services division serve as NW-SCC CyberAdvisors. They are available to chat with you at various times throughout the day. If they are not available to chat, you can leave a message via email, and they will respond to you as soon as possible.
