Coach Scott Veal

Prior to coming to NW-SCC,Scott Veal was the head men's basketball boach at Phillips High School since 2002. Veal coached Phillips to an elite eight-appearance in the 2008 Alabama High School state tournament and a final four appearance in 2009, the first in school history. He finished the 2008-09 season with a 31-5 record. Following his record breaking season, Veal received the honor of being selected to coach the North squad in the 12th annual Alabama North-South all-star game. Also, he received such awards as the: Marion County Coach of the Year Award, Northwest Alabama Coach of the Year, Northwest Alabama Conference Coach of the Year and TimesDaily 1A-3A Coach of the Year. Throughout his seven seasons at Phillips, veal has amassed a 130-64 record, a .670 winning percentage.

Veal attended Northwest Alabama Community College (today known as Northwest-Shoals Community College) where he played basketball for two seasons (1989-90). He then transfered to the University of West Alabama to earn his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and his Master's degree from the University of South Alabama.

Veal hopes to use his success on the high school level to help build the Patriots men's basketball program into an Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) contender. "First off, getting this opportunity to coach at a place that is so dear and close to my heart is a dream come true," said Veal. "I am really looking forward to getting started and getting this program back where it deserves to be in this state and that's on top."
