Hunter Ragsdale and Kyle Smith commit to the Patriots

The Northwest-Shoals Patriots receive their first commitments for the fall of 2009.  Hunter Ragsdale a catcher/outfielder from Pelham High School and third baseman Kyle Smith from McAdory High School made verbal commitments to play at Northwest-Shoals for the 2010-2011 season.

Ragsdale plays at 6A power  Pelham High School for Jeff Mauldin.. Hunter is a 5'10'' 175 lb right handed hitting catcher/outfielder.  Ragsdale has good speed and handles the bat well. Ragsdale said he chose Northwest-shoals "because the way the program is ran and the way the coaches care and act professional about their job."  Hunter will have a chance to compete for a spot at either catcher or in the outfield and a chance to hit in the top of the order in the fall of 2010.

Smith plays at 5A McAdory High School for David Vaughn.  Kyle is a 6'2" 195 lb left handed hitting third baseman.  Kyle is a good defensive player who shows a potential for tremendous power.  Smith said he chose Northwest-Shoals "because of the coaching staff and the closeness of the team."  Kyle will have a chance to compete for a spot at third base and chance to hit in the middle of the order in the fall of 2010.
