Nondiscrimination Policy

It is the official policy of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and Northwest-Shoals Community College that no person in Alabama shall on the grounds of race, color, disability, sex, religion, creed, national origin, or age, be excluded from participation, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program, activity, or employment. The College complies with nondiscriminatory regulations under Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX Education Amendment of 1972; Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990.

International Students

International students MUST submit their application for admission by mail or in person due to additional admission requirements.

Distance Education

Students who plan to take online courses MUST also complete an orientation prior to the first day of class. Students should receive an email following registration with instructions on how to complete the orientation. Contact April Cookson ( or 256-331-5395) for information about this required orientation.

In order to complete the online application, applicants must:
1. Complete the Conditional Admission Agreement linked here.
2. Obtain a notarized copy of your driver's license. Copy must have the imprint of the notary seal.
3. Mail the completed Conditional Admission Agreement along with the notarized driver's license copy to either the Muscle Shoals or Phil Campbell campus admissions office. You can also drop the documents off at either campus Admissions Office.
