READMISSION INTO NURSING: Requirements and Information

1. Any student who receives a “W”, “WP”, “WF”, “D”, or “F” in any nursing (NUR) course is automatically dropped from the program.  The student cannot progress in the nursing course sequence until the course is repeated successfully.

2. Students must submit an application for readmission to the ADN program specifying the semester for which they wish to be readmitted. The student must adhere to current nursing curriculum or program policies and procedures and meet current College and program admission requirements as outlined in the College Catalog including application deadlines. For readmission the deadlines are:

Summer Admission – February 15
Fall Admission – May 15
Spring Admission – October 15

3. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered unless space is available.

4. The applicant must be readmitted within one calendar year, otherwise all nursing courses must be repeated.

5. Students are required to complete the program within 48 months of initial entry.

6. Qualified applicants for readmission are admitted on a SPACE AVAILABLE basis and are ranked and admitted according to the highest grade point average.

7. Students who are unsuccessful on the second (2nd) admission will be dismissed from the ADN program.

8.  A student who has been dismissed from a specific program (ADN/Mobility) can apply for admission as a new student to any nursing program within the Alabama College System provided:

a) the student meets current entry requirements;

b) at least two years have lapsed since the student's dismissal from a specific program; and

c) the student was not dismissed from the previous program for disciplinary reasons and/or unsafe/unsatisfactory client care in the clinical area.

9.  Students dismissed from the previous program for disciplinary reasons and/or unsafe/unsatisfactory client care in the clinical area will not be allowed reinstatement to the nursing program.
